Sunset over the MiraBay lagoon and clubhouse in Apollo Beach, Florida

Neighbor First, Agent Second

An Apollo Beach REALTOR who lives in MiraBay

Hi, I’m Shawna Calvert, an Apollo Beach REALTOR who lives in MiraBay. I’m a neighbor first and an agent second. When you call me about a home here, you’re talking to someone who drives these roads, knows these neighborhoods by heart and plans to be here for a very long time.

What does “neighbor first” mean to me?

It means the people I help buy and sell homes aren’t transactions that end at the closing table. They’re the faces I see at the Galley pool bar, at MiraBay events and around Apollo Beach on a Saturday. I find that changes how I give advice. I’ll always tell you the honest thing about a flood zone, a CDD or a seawall, because I want you to love living here, and I want to be glad to run into you a year from now.

How does a Go-Giver team work?

Our team at 27North Realty runs on the Go-Giver idea that your success grows from the value you give, not from what you take. In practice, you get the full answer whether you’re moving next month or just starting to dream about Florida. Ask me about lagoon versus canal homes, what a CDD really costs (my CDD vs HOA explainer is a good place to start) or how elevation affects flood insurance, and you’ll get a straight, complete answer. Go-Givers tend to find each other, and some of my favorite clients found us exactly that way.

Why does it matter that your agent lives here?

Living in MiraBay teaches you things a listing never will. I know lagoon side homes reach the bay through the community boat lift while canal homes go straight out. I know the golf carts, the activity calendar and that easy “Key West social” feel. That local knowledge stretches well past my own street. MiraBay, Symphony Isles, Bimini Bay, Andalucía, Waterset, Covington Park, Harbour Isles, you name it. I know the neighborhoods in Apollo Beach, Ruskin, Riverview, Sun City Center, Wimauma and Gibsonton, and I help families all across Tampa Bay.

The numbers back that up. I was the #1 agent in Apollo Beach by total sales volume (Stellar MLS, Jan 2025 to Aug 2026), and our clients have left more than 280 verified reviews on RateMyAgent (as of September 2026).

Who is the family behind the team?

My husband, Gregg Calvert, is the broker of 27North Realty. Between us we have nine children, lots of daughters, and a growing crew of grandkids. Our dog Winchester is sure he runs the house. One of our favorite family spots is Little Harbor in Ruskin, where Gregg and his dad like to watch the sun go down over St. Pete.

Before real estate, I spent more than 20 years running long-term care pharmacies and over 10 years teaching pharmacy technician students. Those years taught me that people count on you to get the details right, and that the best way to help someone is to explain things clearly and let them decide. I still work that way.

How do you want to live here?

That’s my favorite question. Do you picture coffee by the water, a boat in the backyard or a golf cart ride to dinner? Wherever you are in your move, I would love to hear about it. Call or text me at 509-294-6818.
